Project Information

The eLearning Toolkit site was originally created by the eLearning technology team at Western to showcase the campus-wide technology that was available to the Western community. Later, we teamed up with the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) to expand the functionality of the site. We added reviews of each tool on several metrics using rubrics developed by the CTL.

The original site used Western’s Cascade CMS, but it did so in a very inefficient way, by shoehorning custom code into predefined data definitions. When I took over the toolkit, I created my own custom data definitions, configurations, content types and velocity templates that will make future updates much easier.
